Snowshoe Hike

During winter, the forest is magical and the Saint Lawrence River shines in all its glory! The beautiful sceneries that Le Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix offers during winter won the hearts of hikers from across the world: Quebecers, Ontarians, Americans, French and Europeans!

It should be noted that snowshoe trails are not mechanically maintained. That being said, the first snowshoers to use the trails after a snowfall will have the pleasure to setting it.

Hikers may bring their dogs for a daily hike in condition that they are kept on a leash.

The Saint-Tite-des-Caps sector is a true kingdom for snowshoeing! You will find seven trail which the length varies between 4 and 12.8 km (28 km in linear total). Two lookouts offer a spectacular view on the Saint Lawrence River and the Montmagny Archipelago islands.

What a sight to see these 21 islands on this huge river from so close and so high up, through such narrow trails that they give us the feeling of being intimately connected with the forest!

Le Massif sectors – Charlevoix Reception

The summit of Le Massif of Charlevoix sector offers many snowshoe trails where two of them lead to shelters offering unparalleled views of the Isle-aux-Coudre and the Saint Lawrence River. A third trail leads to a lake.

Cap à l'Abattis (10 km, roundtrip) intermediate: there is a shelter 5 km away.
La Grande Vue (6.6 km, roundtrip) intermediate: there is a shelter 3 km away.
Lac Gauthier (5 km, aller-retour) facile: un refuge se trouve à 2.5 km.

Snowshoe Hike with Accommodation

In winter, Le Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix offers hikes of 40.3 km long from Saint-Tite-des-Caps to Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. It is possibly to hike through it completely or partially. Le Sentier des Caps staff is here to help you plan a hike trip that suits your availability, pysical condition and weather conditions. It is not advised to hike with a sled as the trail does not allow it. Therefore, your belonging must be carried in a backpack.

To sleep in a shelter or campsite

The shelters may be shared with other bookings and some are accessible for day customers.

Streams are located near shelters and campsites, except for Grande Vue where the water must be treated. In winter, when the water source is frozen, you can break the ice with an axe or there's always snow!

It is strictly forbidden to light outdoor fires anywhere on the territory of Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix.

It is not possible to bring your dog on long hikes, in shelters or in camping.

We offer vehicle and baggage transportation services.

To explore the trails of Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix in winter, it is recommended that you bring a backpack; the trails are generally not suitable for sleds.
